Method

Design first, code second

A website that lasts is thought through before it is written. This is how I work, in five steps.

Design first, code second

  1. 1. Listening and scoping

A conversation to understand your business, your customers and what the site has to achieve. I play it back, propose a clear scope and a fixed-price quote.

  2. 2. Architecture

Site structure, content, keywords, structured data, languages: I draw the architecture before the first line of code. That's where search rankings are decided.

  3. 3. Design and development

Restrained mockups, then development in Next.js and TypeScript. Mobile first, with accessibility and performance measured at every step.

  4. 4. Launch

Deployment on Vercel, domain, email, Search Console, sitemap and indexing. You receive the credentials and the source code: it's yours.

  5. 5. Follow-up

Real-world performance monitoring, fixes, improvements. I stay available after launch, with no forced commitment.

About

An engineer who codes, a developer who designs

Basque by origin, I grew up in Halsou, between Ustaritz and Cambo, then spent thirty-five years away from the Basque Country — Belgium, England, Djibouti, Spain, Germany, elsewhere in France. I have been building websites for almost twenty years and hold a master's-equivalent qualification in software development, recognised by the French state; I now live in Hondarribia, next to San Sebastián.

What I love: interfaces that breathe, pages that load before you have time to think about it, clean code you can pick up again in two years without flinching.

Frequently asked questions

What people often ask me

What people often ask me

How much does a website cost?

It depends on the scope: a five-to-ten-page business site is nothing like an application with a members' area and payments. After a first conversation I send you a fixed-price, itemised quote with no surprises. No monthly fees, no mandatory subscription.

How long does it take?

Three to six weeks for a complete business website, two to four months for a web application. The timeline mostly depends on how quickly your content (copy, photos) is available — I can help you produce it.

Do you work remotely?

Yes, with clients in France, Spain and Belgium. Video calls, email, WhatsApp: I adapt. I'm based in the Basque Country, between Bayonne and San Sebastián, and happy to travel within the region.

Why Next.js rather than WordPress?

For speed, security and search rankings. A Next.js site is generated ahead of time and served from a global network: it loads in a fraction of a second, has no plugins to update and doesn't get hacked. I also maintain WordPress sites, and I know when that is the right choice.

Who owns the code?

You do. On delivery you receive the complete code repository, plus access to hosting and the domain name. You remain free to evolve the site with me or with someone else.

Which languages can you work in?

English, French and Spanish. My own applications exist in up to twelve languages: multilingual websites, with their SEO subtleties (hreflang, translated URLs), are one of my specialities.

Got a project in mind? Even a vague one.

Write me a few lines. I'll reply within two working days with an honest first opinion: what makes sense, what doesn't, and where to start.
