Screenshot of the SKIF Belgium website

Context

The official website of SKIF Belgium, the Belgian branch of the Shotokan Karate-do International Federation, linked to the Honbu Dōjō in Tokyo: dojos in several provinces, classes regularly taught by Japanese experts, competitions and grades registered in Japan.

The challenge

Making dense institutional information — history, dojos, calendar, regulations, refereeing — readable for French-speaking, Dutch-speaking and international practitioners.

What I did

React application with drop-down navigation (SKIF, SKIF-B, calendar, documents, refereeing), translations loaded on demand with i18next, a federal calendar filterable by club, province and category, downloadable documents (technical regulations, referee signals, dan exam form) and content served by a REST API.

Technical highlights

  • French, Dutch and English, plus a Japanese version of the main pages
  • Federal calendar filterable by club, province and category
  • Official documents: technical regulations, refereeing, dan exams
  • i18next translations loaded on demand
